Paula Jennifer Marshall pleaded guilty today to first-degree murder in the shooting death of her ex-boyfriend, Christopher Smith.

Smith was repeatedly shot then pistol whipped as he lay bleeding in the parking lot of the White Horse Restaurant in February 2007.

Smith, 32, died at the scene.

Marshall, 30, faces between 24 years, nine months and 31 years, 11 months in prison when she’s sentenced Sept. 5, deputy prosecutor Ed Murphy said.

Smith and Marshall had dated for several years and had a son together, according to court documents.

At the time of the shooting, they were involved in a custody dispute.

A judge recently awarded custody of the boy to Marshall’s brother and his wife, court records state.
