A Honda Civic traveling at perhaps 100 mph failed to negotiate a curve, became airborne, hit a pickup truck and then crashed into a garage Saturday, the Kitsap Sheriff’s Department said in a press release.

The crash happened on Southeast Harper Hill Road, where the speed limit is 10 mph.

The vehicles were totaled, but neither the driver or his passenger were seriously injured. Deputies were searching for the driver, who fled. Alcohol is suspected to be a factor.

Update: Kitsap deputies on Tuesday arrested a 24-year-old man believed to have been the driver on suspicion of felony hit and run and driving with a suspended license.

A witness to the crash spotted two men Tuesday morning who looked like the men she had seen and called 911. They turned out to be the passenger (who stayed at the scene) and the driver, police said.
