A man who was shot in the head by friend Sunday night in a Lakewood apartment has died of his injuries, the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office reported this morning.

The man died at Madigan Army Medical Center. His name and age have not been released.

The man and a friend were inside an apartment in the 6400 block of 88th Street Court Southwest about 8 p.m. Sunday, Lakewood police reported.

The friend put a gun to the back of the victim’s head and, thinking it was empty, pulled the trigger.

The victim was shot, officers reported.

The shooting appears to be accidental.
