Just developing:

Lakewood Police confirmed that there has been a shooting. The investigation is just getting launched and details are sparse, but at the moment, Lt. Steve Mauer is saying it appears to be accidental.

The victim’s condition wasn’t available but it appears the victim may have been shot in the head. Mauer was not yet able to provide a location.

I’ll post more information as we get it.

Update:

Lakewood Police worked late into Sunday night investigating a shooting that appears to have been accidental.

According to Lt. Steve Mauer, a man in his 20s was shot in the head by friend, also in his 20s, a little before 8 p.m. The shooting happened at the Terrace Apartments in the 6400 block of 88th Street Court Southwest.

"According to the information we have so far, he put it to the back of his (friend’s) head and pulled the trigger thinking it was empty," Mauer said. Two women who were in the apartment were being questioned, but it did not appear they saw the shooting, he said.

The victim, who was not identified, was rushed to Madigan Army Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
