We’ve got a story in today’s paper about Lakewood police officer Dustin “Ducky” Carrell and his heroic actions Monday.
The 28-year-old officer used his patrol car to stop traffic on Highway 512 and help a mother duck get her ducklings safely across the highway.
Here’s a website where you can find a video of the rescue effort.
As of this morning, the DOT video had been viewed 127,019 times, according to LiveLeak.com.
The Lakewood Police Department has received several e-mails about Carrell. Here’s the full text of one of them that was quoted in today’s story.
This morning I saw the video of this officer assisting a duck and her brood across a highway. Just when I’ve about lost all faith in the human race, your officer has restored some of it with a simple act of kindness towards a mother and her children, despite the fact that they were only ducks.
Thank you very much, Officer Carrell. You made my day, probably my week, and quite possibly, my millennium.
