KENT, WA – April 27, 2008 – On Sunday Morning two teams from the Hispanic Soccer League were playing a game at French Field on Kent’s East Hill. Two men who had an argument with a man in the stands the night before came to the stands armed with a tire iron and a large kitchen knife. They attacked one victim who was defended by a second man. Both victims received non life threatening injuries. They were taken to Auburn Hospital for treatment. The suspects fled the area in one car.
Witnesses immediately called 9-1-1 describing the suspects and their car. Responding Kent Police saw the vehicle and apprehended both suspects. One suspect was taken to Valley Hospital for treatment of his non life threatening injuries the other was booked into the Kent City Jail. Both suspects were arrested for investigation of Assault second degree.
The suspects and one victim had an argument at a party on Saturday evening. All persons involved are in their mid 20′s, and other than Sunday soccer games have no connection to French Field. There is no gang connection to the Sunday assault. The Hispanic Soccer League uses French Field most every Sunday. There are no known instances of violence at these league games.
Prompt reporting to 9-1-1 with an accurate description of the suspects and their car, led to a quick apprehension and fast arrival of Medics to aid the victims.
