The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the death of a bicyclist in the Midland area of unincorporated Pierce County. It happened this afternoon in the 9100-block of 18th Avenue East.

According to Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer, there was no car involved and the man did not appear to have crashed very hard. A medical issue is suspected. He is known to law enforcement and has had medical issues in the past, Troyer said.
