DUI cases in Pierce County climbing steadily since 2001

I had a story Thursday about Pierce County District Court judges reviewing breath-test evidence in DUI cases in the aftermath of recent scandals at the state’s toxicology lab.

In the story, I wrote that the outcome of those hearings – whether breath-test evidence would be admitted in court – could affect hundreds of cases. I’d hoped to get a more exact number but was unable to on deadline.

Yesterday, District Court administrator Chuck Ramey sent over a spreadsheet showing all the DUI cases filed in Pierce County District Court since 2001. I present that spreadsheet to you now for your consideration.

It’s fair to say many of these cases could be affected by the outcome of the upcoming hearings.
