Two men were injured by gunfire early Monday, Tacoma police spokesman Mark Fulghum said.

The first shooting took place at 2:19 a.m. near a gas station in the 4200 block of Center Street.

The victim, a 26-year-old man, was shot in the thigh and was taken by private car to St. Joseph Medical Center.

He told police that he was standing on the sidewalk and talking to some friends when he heard the sound of a gunshot and ducked. He then fell to the ground when one shot hit him in the leg.

He provided no additional information, Fulghum said.

Five minutes later, a man was shot outside a club in the 2200 block of Commerce Street.

A fight broke out outside the club at 2:24 a.m. and at least one shot was fired.

The injuries to the victims were not considered life threatening.
