The King County Sheriff’s Office is looking for the public’s help in finding the driver who hit a 72-year-old man in a wheelchair on New Year’s Eve.
The victim, a Kent resident, was thrown from his wheelchair. He suffered broken bones and the injuries, because of his age, are considered “very serious,” the Sheriff’s Office reported.
The man was crossing in a crosswalk at South 208th and 98th Place South about 7:30 p.m. when he was hit by a van. The van didn’t stopped.
The van was described as a burgundy or maroon 1987 Ford Aerostar van, Washington license 378NEB, deputies reported. The van may have a broken driver’s side window with cardboard or black plastic over it. It was last registered in Tacoma.
The driver was described as a white man in his mid-40s with a medium build. A woman also was in the van, deputies reported.
Anyone with information about the van and its drivers are asked to call the King County Sheriff’s Office at (206) 296-3311 (24 hours) or 911.
