Tacoma police and members of the SWAT team were in the West End today after a man reportedly threatened to shoot himself.

The man was inside his house alone, Tacoma police spokesman Mark Fulghum said.

A negotiator arrived on the scene, talked to the man on the phone. The man came outside without incident.

The command post was set up in the parking lot of Vassault Park. The house was a few blocks west of that location.
