King County sheriff’s detectives are investigating the shooting death of a man in the Maple Valley-area Sunday night.

One person is in custody, sheriff’s spokesman John Urquhart reported.

The Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call about a shooting inside a house in the 24100 block of Southeast 261st Place about 6 p.m. Sunday. They arrived and found a 52-year-old man dead from a gunshot wound, Urquhart said.

Later Sunday, detectives arrested a 61-year-old Maple Valley man and booked him into the King County Jail on suspicion of homicide.

The suspect and victim knew each other. No motive was immediately released.
