Tacoma police were called to a fight around the Food Court tonight at the Tacoma Mall.
Officers responded but the fight broke up and all those involved scattered, according to Tacoma police spokesman Mark Fulghum. No injuries were reported.
L & S swung by about 7:30 p.m. Police cars were leaving the area. Two uniformed officers were standing guard, keeping an eye on the sizeable crowd in the Food Court.
There was the normal buzz of the mall.
Tacoma police report there was a shooting early Sunday outside Area 151, a place that’s received some police attention recently. The shooting remains under investigation.
Two men got into an argument over a woman at the club at South 38th Street and South Tacoma Way, police spokesman Mark Fulghum said.
The argument went outside and one man shot the other about 1:40 a.m. The victim ran off and the shooter also fled toward Union Avenue.
A short time later, the victim flagged down a medic unit along Interstate 5 in Federal Way. His injuries were serious
…Tacoma fire crews were mopping up an early morning fire at the Fawcett House, 1945 Fawcett Ave.
You might remember that this abandoned house was in the news over the summer when a woman was killed in the alley outside. The slaying of Velma Tirado-Salway remains unsolved.
The Fawcett House had been boarded up and was scheduled for demolition, the last I heard. It’s being torn down to make way for UWT-related construction.
I am trying to track down the details of what happened and will have something for Wednesday’s paper.
UPDATE: Tacoma fire officials say
…An anonymous tip to Tacoma-Pierce County Crime Stoppers has led to the capture of the so-called “Pinocchio” bandit, Tacoma police reported.
Police suspect the bandit is responsible for at least three bank robberies in Tacoma over the past several weeks, spokesman Mark Fulghum said. Investigators had released surveillance photos from one of the robbers in hopes that someone would recognize the suspect and call Crime Stoppers.
Crime Stoppers received a tip late on Christmas Eve about the robber’s identity and location. Officers went to an apartment in downtown Tacoma and contacted the man.

…Our news partners, KIRO TV, report this morning that 80 to 100 Puget Sound Energy trucks will be convoying this morning from Olympia to Seattle.
The convoy is expected to leave the Olympia Mall around 9:30 a.m. and will be escorted by Washington State Patrol troopers.

There is a thin layer of ice on some roads and several, small accidents have been reported south of Graham, in Puyallup and along Pacific Highway in Spanaway.
Also, the northbound lanes of Pacific Highway in Spanaway were closed early Friday after roughly 100 gallons of diesel fuel spilled. The lanes were closed from just after 2 a.m. until just after 4:30 a.m.
The full 18-hole course at Lake Spanaway Golf Course reopens today for the first time since last week’s windstorm brought down 12 large fir trees and littered the course with tree debris.
Crews have cleaned up the 18-hole course and it is ready for play again.
The county gave props to the golf course crew and other Parks and Recreation Department maintenance employees, including Derald Randle, Todd Mitchell, Greg Shelton, Toby Lirot, Scott Tyson, Jeff Donovan, Rich Hagen, Mike Walker, Andrew Morgan, Fred Henderson, John Ainslie, Gary Japhet and Brett Schuler.
