The National Weather Service just posted its new forecast for Western Washington. It looks snowy tonight but only rainy for tomorrow’s commute.

Again, the Weather Service is responsible for the all-caps format:

WEST SLOPES NORTHERN CASCADES AND PASSES-

WEST SLOPES CENTRAL CASCADES AND PASSES-

358 PM PST WED NOV 29 2006

…WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 AM PST

THURSDAY..

MOISTURE ASSOCIATED WITH AN INCOMING PACIFIC WEATHER SYSTEM WILL OVERRUN

COLD AIR TRAPPED AT LOWER LEVELS. PRECIPITATION WILL GRADUALLY

INCREASE EARLY THIS EVENING AND CONTINUE UNTIL THE FRONT PASSES.

THE FRONT WILL MOVE THROUGH SEATTLE AROUND 2 AM AND THROUGH THE

CASCADES ABOUT 4 AM.

IN THE LOWLANDS…SNOW OR SLEET ACCUMULATIONS OF A TRACE TO 2

INCHES ARE EXPECTED BEFORE A TRANSITION TO RAIN OCCURS. ONCE

PRECIPITATION TRANSITIONS TO RAIN…SOME FREEZING RAIN IS POSSIBLE

FOR AN HOUR OR TWO…ESPECIALLY AWAY FROM WATER AND IN OUTLYING

VALLEYS. TEMPERATURES THROUGHOUT THE LOWLANDS SHOULD RISE ABOVE

FREEZING BY 4 AM.

IN THE CASCADES EXPECT SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS OF 5 TO 10 INCHES.

PRECIPITATION AT THE APPROACHES TO THE PASSES COULD CHANGE TO

FREEZING RAIN FOR AN HOUR OR TWO BEFORE THE FRONT PASSES.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF

SNOW…SLEET…OR FREEZING RAIN WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE

PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES…AND USE

CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.
