It’s only a drill this time

If you’re around Pierce College Puyallup today, you might spot a fatality crash and DUI drill in the campus’ upper parking lot.

Puyallup Fire and Rescue, Puyallup Police Department and the college are working together on the drill, which will run from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

During the exercise, firefighters will be using the “Jaws of Life” to extricate trapped victims from two cars. Police officers will be performing DUI field sobriety tests and processing the crime scene.

“This event is a partnership designed to raise student awareness about driving impaired,” a press release from the fire department reads. “It also provides an opportunity for the police and fire departments to work together preparing for an event that happens, sadly, all too often.”
