TPD Lt. Corey Darlington, Sector 1 commander, sent out an e-mail Tuesday afternoon to Chief Don Ramsdell and other city bigwigs with details about a raid officers conducted at the Winthrop Hotel in downtown Tacoma.
Officers served search warrants on two apartments about 8 a.m. and made numerous arrests, including “several drug dealers, users and a sex offender staying at one of the apartments with several young women,” according to Darlington’s e-mail, which was obtained by Lights & Sirens.
Darlington handed out compliments to the Special Investigations Unit in general and officer Chris Martin in particular. It was Martin, Darlington said, who “initiated and coordinated the investigation.”
Darlington also praised Laura Hanan, a downtown business owner and resident who’s made it her mission to keep on eye on things in the area, saying she “has consistently assisted the police department and have been an active community member.”
Hanan threw some love back TPD’s way, saying she especially appreciated the arrests of two men she said were “bringing many undesirable people into this neighborhood…”
“I’m sure law-abiding residents of the Winthrop also appreciate not being intimidated by these two creeps anymore as well,” Hanan said in an e-mail copied to Ramsdell, Darlington, city leaders and Lights & Sirens.
Score one for the good guys.
