Kent police are seeking applications from German shepherds itching to do police work. The department is replacing one of their retiring K9s.

Applicants should be active and motivated.

"Is your best friend tearing up the house because of boredom?" a Kent police press release reads. "Perhaps he would be interested in a new career with physical activity and many challenges. This career will provide housing, full health care and all the kibbles he can eat."

Applicants should be pure bred, male German shepherds, 18 to 30 months old. They should enjoy chasing a ball, be social with people of all ages, mentally stable and not afraid of new environments.

Interested dog owners can call Sgt. Todd Durham at 253-859-5800 or tdurham@ci.kent.wa.us.
