If you’re looking for a local angle to the controversy over U.S. Olympic team uniforms being made in China, look toward Lakewood.

That’s where, for the past 42 years, a company called Matman Wrestling has designed and manufactured wrestling uniforms – with some of those uniforms having been worn, over the years, by Olympic athletes.

But not this year for Team USA.

According to a spokesman for the governing body – USA Wrestling in Colorado Springs, Colo. – the uniforms are being provided by a company called Asics.
