		<description><![CDATA[<a class="postimage" href="http://blog.thenewstribune.com/business/2013/05/06/foss-hotel-could-break-ground-within-a-month/"><img src="http://blog.thenewstribune.com/business/wp-content/blogs.dir/30/files/2013/05/PHi_j0211_39-200x120.jpg" width="200" height="120" /></a><p>We&#8217;ve sounded the drum roll before for this event only to have opponents&#8217; court action force cancellation of the ceremony.</p> <p>But here goes nonetheless:</p> <p>Groundbreaking for the long-awaited hotel on downtown Tacoma&#8217;s Foss Waterway could happen within the next month, according to the hotel&#8217;s architect.</p> <p>Dave Murphy, the Seattle architect who designed the 104-room Marriott Residence Inn for Bellingham&#8217;s Hollander Investments, said he expects the City of Tacoma will issue grading and excavation permits this month for the structure.</p> <p>Work on the site between the Esplanade Condominiums and Thea&#8217;s Landing Apartments on Dock Street could begin shortly thereafter.</p> <p>Construction could <a href="http://blog.thenewstribune.com/business/2013/05/06/foss-hotel-could-break-ground-within-a-month/" class="ellipsis">&#8230;</a></p>

Representatives of the Portland-based brewpub picked up construction permits from the City of Tacoma in February, but work hasn&#8217;t begun yet. 		<description><![CDATA[<p>Boeing has withdrawn its building permit application to construct a big new office building adjacent to its Everett wide-body aircraft production plant.</p> <p>The company had planned to construct the 650,000-square-foot building to consolidate and expand offices in the vicinity of its plant. Part of the plan includes an area-wide environmental impact statement, which, if ultimately approved, will allow commercial real estate developers to skip individual environmental review on their project. 		<description><![CDATA[<p>Builders are building again and loan quality has improved at Washington banks, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. reported Monday.</p> <p>The federal bank regulator said in its monthly report that statewide single-family home permits were up mightily in the fourth quarter, increasing 47.5 percent from the figure reported in the fourth quarter of 2011.</p> <p>Multi-family building permits increased 53.6 percent, while the home-price index rose 0.6 percent.</p> <p>Within 71 state banking institutions, total assets rose were $63.8 billion, up from $62.6 billion in the previous quarter and up from $63.5 billion the year before.</p> <p>Asset quality improved at state banks, the <a href="http://blog.thenewstribune.com/business/2013/03/25/good-news-from-the-fdic-construction-permits-are-up-while-bad-loans-fallat-state-banks/" class="ellipsis">&#8230;</a></p>
