Two construction projects near Sea-Tac Airport are causing periodic delays for South Sound residents wanting to make a quick trip to Sea-Tac Airport.
The Washington Department of Transportation is resurfacing and grinding concrete panels on Washington 518 between I-5 and International Boulevard this summer. The department is shutting down parts or all lanes of 518 late at night to allow the construction to happen.
Those shutdowns are likely to affect only airport users catching a red-eye or early morning flight.
On the south end of the airport, construction of an extension of Sound Transits elevated light rail line from the airport to South 200th Street is affecting traffic at South 182nd Street where lanes have been restricted to allow construction activity.
That project will continue for more than two years.
The Washington 518 project is expected to be done this fall.
