Tacoma’s Franciscan Medical System has expanded its reach in Eastern Pierce County with the opening of a new, three-story, 45,000-square-foot medical pavilion in Bonney Lake.

The new building’s occupants will provide family medicine, internal medicine, digital x-ray, urgent care, pharmacy and labratory services on site.

“We are pleased to be able to bring Franciscan’s mission of healing to residents of Bonney Lake, Sumner and Eastern Pierce County, “said Franciscan Medical Group President and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Stephen Spare  “The pavilion is the result of Franciscan’s mission to create healthier communities by offering high quality care in a calming environment where the patient always comes first.”

Franciscan developed the building in partnership with Rush Development Co.  The facility at the corner of Washington 410 and Sky Island Drive East includes an adjacent parking garage with 200 spaces.  Parking is free for patients.

Sellen Construction Co. was the general contractor. Helix Design Group, Kane Manthey and Collins Woerman designed the building.

In the new building, Franciscan Prompt Care offers residents access to urgent care for minor illnesses and injuries seven days a week without an appointment. Franciscan Medical Clinic provides primary care. Dr.  Corie Sandall  a specialist in internal medicine, has relocated to Bonney Lake from Tacoma.  Dr. Cynthia Garner specializes in family medicine at the new pavilion.  She recently joined Franciscan after working in private practice  in Bonney Lake for several years.

In August additional services will be available including physical therapy, diagnostic imaging (mammography, MRI, CT, ultrasound, pain management injections).  Later this fall, a variety of specialists will offer cardiology, podiatry, occupational health, gastroenterology, oncology and other specialties.

Franciscan is Tacoma-based health services provider that owns St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma, St. Clare Hospital in Lakewood, St. Anthony Hospital in Gig Harbor, St. Francis Hospital in Federal Way and St. Elizabeth Hospital in Enumclaw.  Highline Medical Center in Burien has recently affiliated with Franciscan, and Harrison Hospital in Bremerton is exploring an alliance with the health care system.

In addition to the hospitals, Franciscan operates a network of clinics and urgent care facilities throughout the South Sound.  The health system is building a medical pavilion in Auburn similar to the one it opened in Bonney Lake.
