The funds will be used to assist MDC as it undergoes “a healthcare transformation, which includes the implementation of electronic health records to enhance the efficiency and quality of care for clients with chronic medical conditions.”

The grant will support health services for some 37,000 Pierce County residents who are expected to be part of Washington’s Medicaid expansion, and additionally those with mental health and chemical dependency diagnoses.

Bob Peters, state president at Bank of America, stated, “Our Neighborhood Builder grant will provide MDC with unrestricted funding and leadership training, allowing them to make strategic investments in select operations and programs.”

Mark Pereboom, MDC CEO, stated, that his ooganization needs to be prepared “to do our part to ensure access to to quality care. This cannot be accomplished without electronic health records, which have become an agency priority in fulfilling our mission.”
