County unemployment down in both Pierce and Thurston, in March, state says

The unemployment rate in Pierce County fell to 9.1 percent in March, down from from 9.5 percent recorded in February, the Washington Employment Security Department reported Tuesday.

In Thurston County, a March unemployment rate of 7.9 percent was down from 8.3 percent in February.

The Pierce County figure is the lowest unemployment rate for March in two years. The latest 9.1 percent is down from March 2012, at 9.7 percent, and down from 10.5 percent recorded in March 2011

Similarly the Thurston County figure of 7.9 percent is down from 8.5 percent in March last year, and down from 8.9 percent in March 2011.

The state releases county figures monthly, following the release of statewide figures.
