The folks over at Tacoma’s Infinite Soups are infinitely ecstatic this week.
Co-owner Wendy Clapp has reported that the multi-soup emporium has reached its $5,300 goal on Kickstarter.com, thus funding a business expansion that will see an Infinite Soups outlet erected in Tacoma’s main A Street post office.
“We’re elated,” Clapp said. “We just want to thank the people of Tacoma for supporting us.”
The online campaign to raise the funding met its goal Monday, although donors can continue to pledge through next week.
Supporters will receive bonus gifts based on the level of their donations. Some will be given hand-delivered soup, or T-shrts, and one donor so far – at the $500 level – will receive the honor of creating and naming a soup that will go into the regular rotation of daily offerings.
Clapp said she expects to offer from 18 to 25 different soups each day – plus breads and biscuits – at the new location. She expects her customer base to derive from students who attend Tacoma’s School of the Arts, at the post office, and from workers in both the nearby Wells Fargo Plaza and Columbia Bank buildings.
Clapp said the property manager at the post office has said he will begin improvements to the space when permits have been approved, and Clapp expects to open by Sept. 1 following inspection and approval from the local health department.
