Salary guide for selected positions, 2013

I spent an interesting morning this week speaking with Meghan Lockhart and Josh Warborg of the staffing firm Robert Half International. They offered a positive message concerning employment opportunities, especially in technology and finance.

There was a blog message with details published here yesterday, but I thought I’d list a few of the changes in salaries the company expects this year.

Here’s a tip in figuring the figures. Half computes a differential for locale, so figure an 18.9 percent increase in these numbers if you’re wondering about a position in the Seattle-Tacoma area. Figure an 18 percent decrease if you’re looking at Spokane. Figure a 41 percent increase if you’re wondering about New York City, and a 35.6 percent increase if your heart is in San Francisco.

Here’s a few selected positions:
• Controller for a company with sales up to $50 million: $71,500 to $99,750, up 4.4 percent from 2012.
• Compliance officer for a company with sales up to $50 million: $76,500 to $101,000, up 4.3 percent.
• Senior internal auditor for midsize company: $67,500 to $88,250, up 4.4 percent.
• General accountant with 1.3 years experience at a small company: $41,000 to $55,500, up 4.3 percent.
• Senior financial analyst at a small company: $55,500 to $73,000, up 3.8 percent.
• Mortgage underwriter: $38,750 to $57,750, up 4 percent.
• Telecommunications or networking network manager: $88,500 to $122,500, up 7 percent.
• Systems security administrator: $89,500 to $123,750, up 5 percent.
• Software developer: $74,500 to $118,250, up 6.5 percent.
• Corporate public relations director: $90,750 to $125,500.
