Just as surely as the day’s get longer this time of year, gas prices are once again rising in the South Sound.

At the current rate, prices could top $4 a gallon in April.

According to The News Tribune’s Gas Deal finder, the average price of a gallon of unleaded regular in the Tacoma area fit $3.671 Friday. That price is 6.3 cents more per gallon than a week ago. Average prices haven’t been that high since late October in the South Sound.

A month ago, Tacoma-area gas prices were at 3.394 a gallon, 27.7 cents less than now. Prices hit bottom in this area just before Christmas when the average was about $3.31 a gallon.

Bargains are still available in some parts of the area including Bonney Lake where two stations are selling gas for less than $3.50 a gallon and several others hover just over that figure.

In Olympia, the lowest priced gas, $3.49 a gallon,  is available at the Arco station as 7291 Martin Way E.

Things could be worse. You could live in California, where the average price is now $4.114 a gallon.
