American Airlines this week entered orders for 143 airliners from Boeing, giving 2013’s slow aircraft order pace a big boost.
American, which had earlier announced its intentions to order the planes, signed final orders for 100 737s, 1 777 and 42 787 Dreamliners.
American’s order increases Boeing’s 2013 commercial aircraft orders to 145. An unidentified customer earlier ordered two 737s.
With American and US Airways reportedly moving close to a deal, its unclear what paint job the planes may carry. American two weeks ago rolled out a new livery for the first time in 40 years. The airline abandoned its classic silver body decorated with horizontal stripes and a stylized eagle in favor of a bright white fuselage, a flag-like tail decor and small red and blue logo.
