Alaska Airlines bolstering its San Diego service with routes to Boston and Kauai

SeaTac’s Alaska Airlines has announced new service bolstering its route structure from San Diego.

The airline said it will begin non-stop service from the Southern California city to Boston March 29 and service to Kauai in Hawaii on June 7.

Alaska will compete with JetBlue Airways, which offers two daily flights from San Diego to Boston. The JetBlue flights, however, leave San Diego in the afternoon and late at night. Alaska’s flight will leave San Diego at 9:30 a.m.

Alaska has added four new destinations from San Diego this year: Orlando and Fresno, Monterey and Santa Rosa in California.

Alaska is offering introductory fares on the Boston route of $129 each way. On the Kauai route, the introductory fare is $209 each way. The airline is also offering members of its frequent flier program double miles on the new routes if they register at www.alaskaair.com.

Alaska already offers daily service from San Diego to Oahu and Maui.

Alaska already connects Sea-Tac and Portland to Boston with non-stop flights. It recently expanded its route network with non-stops from Sea-Tac to Salt Lake City.
