In case you were wondering who won prizes in Wednesday’s first-ever citywide Tacoma Pickle Hunt, the pickle hunt’s main sponsor, Lynnae’s Gourmet Pickles has released the names.
The winners are: Scott Hayden, Hana Kato, Madeline Sanders, Jenn Rupp, Theresa Predmore Brown, Cheryl Parkinson-Hummel, Tristan Scott McDonough and Dessa Jarmin.
Not familiar with the Pickle Hunt? It was a kind of scavenger hunt in which clues were given first on Tacoma Mayor Marilyn Strickland’s Facebook page and subsequently on Lynnae’s Gourmet Pickles Facebook page.
Contestants who were the first to reach each of the eight jars of pickles strategically placed in businesses throughout Tacoma received prizes associated with that jar of pickles. Collectively, those prizes, donated by homegrown Tacoma businesses, were worth some $2,000.
Each jar of pickles was found within two minutes of each Facebook announcement, the organizers said.
Other participating local businesses that were either a “secret location” or that donated prizes for the event included: Katie Downs, The Ollin, Celebrity Cake Studio, Chuckals Office Supply, Rainier Connect, Luv Handles, Veggies Northwest, Doyle’s Public House, FishWife Salmon, Wish Candles, Grassfed Direct, Westgate Physical Therapy Exercise, Point Defiance Zoo, McPhee Dental Group, Murano Hotel, Wingman Brewery, Amocat Café, Over the Moon Café, The Harmon, Grassi’s, South Sound Running, and Gibson’s.
“We are extremely moved by the support and participation of the Tacoma community,” said Lynnae Schneller, president of Lynnae’s Gourmet Pickles. “Because of the success and by popular demand, this will be an annual event not only celebrating pickles, but also the amazing local businesses in our area.”
