New Northeast storm forces Sea-Tac flight cancellations

A new storm bearing down on the Northeast today forced the cancellation of two flights from Sea-Tac Airport to two New York-area airports.

American Airlines cancelled one non-stop 7:10 a.m. flight to JFK Airport, and Alaska Airlines canceled a 9 a.m. flight to Newark Liberty Airport.

Those flight cancellations were a fraction of the flights halted last week to the Northeast from Sea-Tac when superstorm Sandy hit New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Connecticut. On Tuesday last week, 21 Sea-Tac flights there were canceled.

Nearly 20,000 flights to and from the Northeast to cities nationwide were canceled last week as high winds, drenching rains and flooding hit the region.

FlightAware.com said airlines have canceled 1,160 flights to and from the area today and Thursday.
