The monthly national jobs report is out today, and according to the Associated Press employers added a larger-than-expected 171,000 jobs in October. The unemployment rate rose to 7.9 percent from 7.8 percent in September, but that came as more people jumped back into the labor market — a positive sign, said AP, that workers may be feeling more confident about their job prospects.
The new Labor Department report, also revised sharply higher job growth in September and August.
And as much as we might prefer that they buy a help-wanted ad in The News Tribune classifieds, Wells Fargo reported today that it is accepting applications for more than 130 teller positions and 35 personal banker positions throughout the state. That includes 22 positions for bankers and customer service reps in Pierce County. Throughout the state, Wells Fargo employs some 4,000 team members and operates 152 branches.
