DaVita Inc., a large provider of kidney dialysis treatments with major administrative offices in downtown Tacoma, reported a net income increase in the third quarter of some 6.9 percent.
The company’s net income rose from $135.36 million in last year’s third quarter to $144.72 million in this year’s third quarter, the Denver-based company said today.
That’s a 6.9 percent increase for the company. Those figures excluded special items.
DaVita announced last week that it intends to move about 350 of its 1,000 Tacoma employees to Federal Way. Those employees will occupy a former Weyerhaeuser Co. building in that South King County city.
The kidney treatment provider said its higher income was driven in part by a 12.3 percent in kidney dialysis treatments in the third quarter. DaVita provided an average of 71,162 treatments a day in its 1,912 U.S. and 24 foreign clinics.
DaVita narrowed the range for its 2012 earnings prediction. The company predicted its full-year earnings will range from $1.315 to $1.330 billion. That compares with prior forecasts of $1.275 to $1.325 billion.
