Puyallup’s South Hill Mall is showing its support for National Anti-Bully Awareness Month in October with an event Saturday at the mall’s MultiCare/Good Samaritan Play Area.

The event, which begins at 1 p.m., will offer kids an opportunity to sign an anti-bullying pledge and to learn about the harm bullying does to others.

The event is part of a nationwide “Be a Buddy, Not a Bully” program. The mall will use lessons from a multi-media series, Captain McFinn and Friends, a series of stories that revolve around the underwater inhabitants of the fictional world of Sand Dusty Reef. Captain McFinn, the hero, is a black-tipped reef shark who used to be a bully, but who has transformed himself into a hero, friend, and protector through the example of others.
