Gas prices stable at $4-plus

The good news is that gas prices seem to have stabilized over the last few weeks in the South Sound.

The bad news is that they’re stable at more than $4 a gallon.

Prices from The News Tribune’s Gas Deal Finder show average prices for unleaded regular in the Tacoma area Friday were $4.049 a gallon. That within a cent of where that same prices were a week ago.

Bargain hunters can still find sub-$4 gas at several Arco, Chevron and Costco stations where were selling gas for more than 10 cents a gallon less than the average.

One report puts the lowest price for gas at $3.75 a gallon at an APP station in Fife. That price is so much lower than the norm, it may be erroneous.

National prices are about 28 cents less a gallon on average.

Lowest gas prices in the Olympia area were reported to be $3.88 a gallon at the U.S. Gas station at 10222 Martin Way E.
