More than 90 percent of Alaska Airlines’ union ramp service and stores agents who voted have ratified a new, six-year contract, the SeaTac-based airline said today.

The 587 workers are members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union. The new agreement provides workers a 10 percent wage increase over the life of the agreement as well as two contract payments and job security and productivity measures.

“I’m delighted that our ramp service and stores workers overwhelmingly approved a contract that reflects their valuable contribution to Alaska Airlines and provides them with long-term security,” said Shane Tackett, Alaska’s vice president of labor relations. “It’s also notable that ratification occurred before the July 19 amendable date of the current contract, thanks to the professionalism of negotiators for the union and Alaska who worked together to develop an agreement that’s fair for everyone.”
