Several local banks and credit unions receive top ratings from a Florida research firm

BauerFianancial, a Florida research firm, has given its highest statewide marks to two Pierce County banks. In its latest survey, Bauer awarded Valley Bank of Puyallup and Fife Commercial Bank of Fife both five stars.

Olympia Federal Savings and Loan and Kitsap Bank of Port Orchard also received the highest recognition. A handful of banks elsewhere in the state likewise took the top grade.

Three other banks with a local presence, Umpqua Bank of Oregon, Union Bank of California and KeyBank of Ohio, also earned five stars.

Westsiade Community Bank of University Place joined four other banks in the state in receiving no stars in the ratings.

Several credit unions throughout the state received the five-star rating. They included American Lake C.U. of Tacoma, Cascade Federal of Kent, Community First of Dupont, Evergreen Direct of Olympia, Harborstone and IBEW 76 Federal of Tacoma, Mount Rainier of Puyallup, Our Commuity of Shelton, Red Canoe of Longview, Sound and Tacoma Longshoremen of Tacoma, Twinstar and Washington State Employees of Olympia and Woodstone of Federal Way.
