Crank up the barbecue, wrap that necktie in pretty paper and prepare to give dad his due. Sunday is Father’s Day in the United States – and than ks the the U.S. Census Bureau and the National Retail Federation,here’s a look at the day By the Numbers:

$11.1 billion: Amount to be spent overall on Father’s Day this year.
$106.49: The amount, on average, that Americana will spend on their dad.
$2.1 billion: Will be spent on outings – such as golf, brunch, or a visit to the movies.
70.1 million: Fathers in America.
24.7 million: Dads who are part of a married-couple family with children under 18.
21 percent: Of those dads are raising three or more children.
1.7 million: Number of single fathers in 2011.
15,734: Number of hardware stores in America.
21,628: Number of sporting goods stores.
176,000: Number of stay-at-home dads in America.
17 percent: Of preschoolers are regularly cared for by dad during mom’s working hours.
$1.9 billion: Amount of child support received by custodial fathers in 2009. (Compared to $19.5 billion for custodial mothers.)
$3.5 billion: Amount they were owed. (Compared to $31.7 billion for custodial mothers.)
