The state’s Department of Labor and Industries is offering a free tutorial June 19 in Tacoma for business owners and managers to answer questions about basic L&I requirements and resources.

The “Employer’s Introduction to L&I” provides information critical to business owners and managers for understanding workers’ compensation, wage and hour rules, workplace safety requirements, record keeping, and contractor registration rules, the agency said.

“This workshop offers an easy way to gain essential information,” said L&I’s small business liaison Celia Nightingale. “Having a strong understanding of L&I basics can go a long way toward saving businesses time and money.”

The workshop covers employers’ rights and responsibilities and provides an overview of the services L&I provides. Employers who attend will also learn about claims management strategies, risk management, and quarterly reporting requirements.

The workshops will be held in Tacoma June 19 from 9 a.m. to noon at L&I’s Tacoma office, 950 Broadway, Suite 200. A similar workshop will be held in Bremerton June 21 from 9 a.m. to noon at L&I’s Bremerton office, 500 Pacific Ave., Suite 400.

To register, call 800-574-2829 or register online at www.Workshops.Lni.wa.gov.
