China Southern Airlines will buy 10 of Boeing’s largest twin-engine, long-range jets, the 777-300ER, the airline announced today.

At list prices, the purchase is worth just less than $3 billion, but the airline said it had obtained undisclosed discounts from Boeing.

China Southern already operates jets in the 777 family, the smaller 777-200 and the 777 Freighter.

The new aircraft will be built in Boeing’s Everett plant.
