Tacoma’s MultiCare Health System has opened a new family medicine clinic on the campus of the health care provider’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup.

That clinic at 1322 Third St. S.E., will also open a new family residency program for osteopathic physicians in training.

The clinic has received accreditation from the American Osteopathic Association. That accreditation allows the clinic to begin recruiting physicians for the residency program. That program is scheduled to begin in July 2012.

Good Samaritan has hosted third- and fourth-year medical students from Pacific Northwest University in Yakima, an osteopathic medical school in Yakima. The new clinic will provide a three-year family medicine residency training program accepting six residents a year until it reaches its capacity of 18 residents in 2014.

Dr. William Kreigsman and LuAnn Schafer, advanced registered nurse practitioner are serving patients at the clinic now. Dr. Amy Pearcy, who did her residency at Tacoma Family Medicine, will join the clinic Sept. 12.
