Sea-Tac remains among most on-time airports

Despite a late March computer failure that caused its two largest airlines cancel hundreds of flights, Sea-Tac Airport’s March on-time performance remained in the top ranks of American airports.

Flight tracking site today ranked sixth among the nation’s 40 major airports in March with flights leaving on time 82.61 percent of the time.

That performance came despite a flight-planning computer outage March 26 that forced Alaska Airlines and its sister regional airline, Horizon Air, to cancel hundreds of flights.

Together Alaska and Horizon handle just a little less than half of Sea-Tac’s traffic.

Tops on the on-time list was Memphis with 84.97 percent of its flights departing on time.
At the bottom was Miami where less than half of its flights, 49.95 percent, left on time in March.
