Tacoma average gas prices move past $3.80

Gasoline prices in Tacoma on average topped $3.80 a gallon for regular for the first time since 2008 today.

A gallon of unleaded regular averaged $3.812 a gallon according to TacomaGasPrices.com this afternoon, rising 1.5 cents in the last 24 hours.

That price is up 3.4 cents from a week ago, 20.4 cents from a month ago and 83.4 cents from a year ago.

Prices at some Tacoma stations for premium have already surpassed $4 a gallon. The least expensive gas in the area is $3.65 cents a gallon at two ARCO stations, one at Pacific Avenue and South 119th Street and the other at Puyallup and Portland avenues.

The statewide average was $3.082 a gallon. That puts Washington eleventh among the 50 states and the District of Columbia. Three states had average of over $4 for regular with Hawaii at the top at $4.297 a gallon. Alaska was next at $4.094 with California in third place at $4.058 a gallon. The least expensive gas was in Wyoming where the state average price was $3.397 a gallon.
