There’s no way that 2010 list was a fluke.
I’ve just heard from Mark Van Cooney, Hotel Murano general manager, who says he’s been informed that the Murano has again made the Conde Nast Traveler list of the Top 100 hotels in the United States.
Last year the hotel was rated by readers as the sixth best hotel in the country; this year the Murano made eighth, Van Cooney said. Last year Traveler readers had given the hotel an overall score of 93.5; this year the hotel is up to 93.8.
Reading down the list, Van Cooney noted that Seattle placed a handful of hotels on the list: Hotel 1000 made 20th place, the Fairmont Olympic earned 33rd place, the Inn at the Market hit 36th and the Four Seasons Seattle was ranked 51st.
“It’s a credit to all of our employees,” Van Cooney said, explaining why he believes the hotel has done so well with readers.
“I think it’s a combination of the design and the art, and the service we provide, and the food. If the service doesn’t back it up, you’re done.”
Hitting the Top 10 in the Top 100 was a bit more difficult this year, he said.
“We weren’t that well known before. I would think Traveler readers would be more critical after you’ve been on the list.”
