Alaska Airlines, which unveiled a plane decorated with the image of Seattle Olympian Apolo Ohno last November, plans to reveal a second Ohno aircraft with a more tropical theme Friday afternoon.
The Boeing 737-800 will bear a likeness of the 8-time Olympic medal winner wearing an Hawaiian lei skating across the aircraft fuselage. A message painted on the plane will urge travelers to “Follow Apolo to Hawaii.”
Ohno won three speed skating medals at the recently-completed Vancouver Winter Olympics.
The airline will use the unveiling to launch a new sweepstakes to win a trip for two to Hawaii with Ohno, the most decorated American in Winter Olympics history.
Alaska in the last two years has opened new routes to four Hawaiian destinations from Seattle and several other cities.
