Inflation? What inflation?
The Bureau of Labor Statistics is out today with its latest look at consumer prices in the Tacoma-Bremerton-Seattle area.
The cost of living went down in September and October. The overall consumer price index for the area declined 0.4 percent, the Bureau said.
Among the sectors:
• Groceries were down 1.5 percent for the two months, and are down 5.6 percent over the year.
• The cost of dining outside the home was down 2.3 percent for the two months, and down 0.9 percent for the year.
• The overall cost of housing was down 1.2 percent for the two months, and down 0.3 percent for the year.
• Natural gas showed the greatest decline, down 16.1 percent and 13.9 percent respectively.
• Gasoline fueled a decline of 2.7 percent and 10.8 percent respectively.
• The costs of medical care, apparel and alcoholic beverages we all up – by 1.1 percent, 5.6 percent and 0.2 percent for the two months; and by 2.9 percent, 3.8 percent and 3 percent for the year.
