- Brian, a native San Franciscan, entered the state police academy shortly after graduating the University of Washington in 1987. Since then he has worked at three different police agencies and in various divisions including patrol (car, foot and bike patrol), training, community policing, criminal intel and his current position in a gang unit. In addition he spent a few years as a commercial pilot, a stay at home dad and a contributor to The News Tribune. He has been writing an online column, Blue Byline, since April, 2011.
