To support your statement “Those of us not living in such a distorted reality recognize and accept the necessity to protect children, especially one’s own offspring. The male psyche and physique, shaped by genetics and society, is ideally suited to that role.”. There was a news article this morning about a dad in Texas who pounced on a mountain lion which attacked his 6 year old son. His son ended up with quite a few stitches, but the dad did save his son’s life.

Just thought I would bring that up, the Powell case is such a tragedy. People are doing amazingly good things on a daily basis. Unfortunately stories like this one, tend to get more attention.

or the house of the leader’s that is next door. How many murders
and wars have I heard about in my 56 years? We put medals on
people who save their buddies but why are we on that battlefield? Humans are a violent species. To overcome that
violence within one’s self is important.

By its very nature, it is cunning and deceptive and so far out of normalcy that it is even hard to imagine. There is no cure for the kind of evil that as Josh Powell except for death. One can only hope that in his final moments he felt every sensation of the agony as the fire consumed his flesh and realized in those final moments that he was headed for an eternity of fire many times greater.
