Tammy Robacker poetry workshop at Write@253’s Tacoma Hilltop space

Former Tacoma poet laureate Tammy Robacker will lead a four-week poetry workshop beginning this weekend, courtesy of local writing group Write@253. The workshop series “Writing Poetry for the Five Senses” runs for the next four Sundays.

Robacker was chosen as the Tacoma poet laureate for 2010-11, and has since led numerous workshops and poetry events. Her poems, many of which are set in the Northwest and spring from events in her life, have been published in “The Vicissitudes” (Exquisite Disarray, 2010). Sign up now for poetry workshops with Tacoma’s Poet Laureate Josie Emmons Turner

Tacoma’s Poet Laureate Josie Emmons Turner will hold a series of two poetry workshops with culminating reading this June. The subject is how to separate the poet from the poem’s speaker, and registration deadline is this Friday.

“The Author vs. The Speaker: Doing what’s best for the poem” explores how to tell a story while still making poetry sing by looking at the work of both poetry masters and workshop participants.
