Local tapestry art at Abundant Health, Madera

 

If you’ve never seen the work of local tapestry artists Cecilia Blomberg, Margo Macdonald and Mary Lane, now’s a great time. Two Tacoma venues are displaying their work – Abundant Health Acupuncture and Madera Architectural Elements, both conveniently in the same building.

The artists are respected locally and internationally. Cecilia Blomberg was part of a hand-picked world-wide team which went to Scotland in 2006 to restore the famous medieval “Lady and the Unicorn” tapestries. She, Macdonald and Lane all make work that is figurative yet individual.

Madera Gallery now home to 13 artists as Madera Architectural Elements

Life has been hard for art galleries lately. We all know why: When the economy’s bad, people cut back on buying art. For the same reason, life’s been hard for artists, as galleries close or take on less work. But one Tacoma gallery has come up with a neat solution to both problems.
