Music for Louis XIV: Early music group the Salish Sea Festival to play upcoming concerts at Christ Episcopal and Grace Lutheran churches, Tacoma

Early music fans, rejoice: Tacoma’s about to be gifted with not one but five concerts by the Salish Sea Festival, a locally-based group of period-instrument musicians playing music from the renaissance, baroque and early classical periods at two Tacoma churches: Christ Episcopal and Grace Lutheran.

The first is next Tuesday evening, January 17, at Christ Episcopal. “The Sun King’s Music” combines Jeffrey Cohan on baroque flute, John Lenti on baroque guitar and Joanna Blendulf on viola da gamba and pardessus de viole (a 17th-century soprano gamba played upright on the lap) to perform music from the court
